FAQs

Answers to common questions about PMU brows, PMU lips and skin blemish removal treatments.

PMU is a cosmetic tattooing technique that involves implanting non-toxic pigments into the superficial layers of the skin to enhance facial features like eyebrows, eyeliner, and lips. It’s considered semi-permanent as the colour fades over time, allowing for adjustments as facial features change with age.

Before we start any treatment, we will conduct a full consultation with you regarding the look you are trying to achieve. We will discuss shape, colour and style, and will help you choose colours that will complement your natural beauty. On the day of your procedure, we will draw in your semi permanent eyebrow, or lip liner in pencil, and will ensure you are completely happy with the shape before undertaking any further treatment. Once you are happy with the shape, design and colour, we will carefully implant the pigment as agreed. Most procedures take around two to three hours, with a further touch up at four to six weeks after treatment. To ensure the highest quality of the treatment, each stage will be documented on the photographs.

The principle is similar, but PMU uses different equipment and pigments designed specifically for facial use, which are semi-permanent and fade naturally over time, unlike traditional tattoo ink.

Yes, PMU is safe when performed by a trained, certified, and licensed artist who follows strict hygiene standards and uses sterile, often disposable, equipment and high-quality pigments.

PMU provides a beautiful, natural-looking base, but you can still apply additional makeup for a more dramatic look for evenings or special occasions.

Most clients report minimal discomfort, often describing the sensation as similar to a fast tweezing. A topical anaesthetic is applied before and during the procedure to ensure comfort.

Appointments typically last between 2 to 3 hours, including consultation, design, colour choice, and the procedure itself.

You will receive detailed pre-care instructions upon booking, but generally, you should avoid alcohol, caffeine, and blood-thinning medications (unless prescribed by a doctor) for 24-48 hours before the session. Discontinue the use of retinol products in the treated area at least 4 weeks prior.

Initial healing takes about 6–10 days, during which you can expect some minor redness, swelling, and scabbing. The treated area is fully healed in approximately 30 days.

Your artist will provide specific aftercare instructions, which generally include keeping the area clean and dry, avoiding sun exposure, swimming, and saunas, and applying a thin layer of the provided healing ointment as directed. It is crucial not to pick at the scabs to prevent pigment loss or scarring.

PMU results typically last 1 to 3 years, depending on your skin type, age, lifestyle, and how well you follow aftercare. Touch-ups (colour boosts) are generally recommended every 12–18 months to maintain the color and shape.
